Whether we like it or not endings are part of life. It is woven into the phases and stages of life, both when it goes well and when it does not! If you want to get to the next level or the next step, something has to end. Life has seasons, life has stages. For anything to be new you have to let go of old things on purpose.

Without the ability to end things people get stuck!

What endings are you prepared to make in order to create space to have new beginnings.
This might mean that there are relationships that must end, practices and phases that must be relinquished, heart-sets and mind-sets that has to give up things of the familiar, habits and beliefs, in order to become viable for the new things that are needed to move up and closer to your calling and assignments in God.

Some things die in this process but there are other things that need to be killed to make space for God to show up! Destructive habits and previous things that we were once invested in sometimes have to be killed off and we uproot what we have previously nurtured. When it was the right season for doing those things it was right, but moving into a new season those things have a way to get you stuck.

3 types of necessary endings

  1. Pruning – rose bushes produce more butts than the plant can sustain – plant has only so much resources and potential to bring not all of these to bloom…in order for the bush to thrive a certain amount of branches has to be cut off…caretaker will assess which butts are worthy of the plants limited fuel and support and then cuts the others away…this is ruthless and you have to do this yourself…this is how you free up the necessary resources to redirect the sap, the strength the energy to the butts that have the greatest potential…focus on the wildly big idea that God gave you…the big fruit…and put all your resources behind that to grow…too many things will bleed you out…you can only nurture so many projects or they will suck the life out of your main project…
  2. Some branches are sick and diseased – don’t know if it will make it… these are the ones where more fertiliser and water won’t help…they have to go…this is a sobering thought in your business in our nation…if we prune our lives the right way and start to cut off the things that are not working…
  3. There are branches and butts that are dead and taking up space …the healthy branches need that space to reach its full potential…they cannot spread when dead branches forces them to bend around corners …they should be growing straight for their goal unobstructed in their path…

Clarity and focus on the vision – the criteria will show what is to be pruned out…pruning is the very important choices required to see a harvest… Given your abilities, resources and opportunities, you’re reaching your full potential…Are you reaching or are you drifting towards the middle that is lower than where you are supposed to be in your life right now?

Q: If you are getting the most from who you are and what you have right now, what would it look like? When pruning is not happening, average or worse multiplies…
